One of the most difficult sections of the Library to support, Seamanship & Boathandling has suffered a little in recent years as the F&B team put so much emphasis on DIY issues, plate boat building, boat tests and the like.
However, we have recently completed several new reports on this vital matter, and as the F&B team will be spending far more time on the water in 2008-2009, we will be gathering the hard-to-get-in-an-office photographic material that brings this section to life. Mind you, we will not even try to emulate Hans Tholstrup’s magnificent voyage to Japan in a Haines Signature 542F – this marvellous report is worth downloading if only to read Tholstrup’s innovative ideas for surviving a cyclone or really heavy seas in a small boat.
Also of note is Editor Peter Webster’s acclaimed reports on “Rough Water Handling In A Plate Boat” or “When is “Rough” Too Rough?” Both of these reports contain excellent ‘hands-on” advice for amateurs and professionals alike.
